Haunted Lakes
Turn north on Hwy 601 at Alix. Haunted Lakes Day Use Area is just past the golf course on the west side of the road.
Shallow lake with cattails, bulrushes, aspen woods and willows. There are wetlands on both sides of the road.
The beach area (west side) is fairly long and there is a short walking trail through the campground.
Barrow’s Goldeneye, American White Pelican, Double-crested Cormorant, Black-crowned Night-Heron, shorebirds. During migration: Greater White-fronted Goose, Snow Goose.

More birds will be seen in the spring and summer seasons, but all locations will have some winter birds. Typical and common species can be expected for each habitat described. Large deep lakes typically attract migrating waterfowl, (ducks, swans, and geese). Notable Species are species of special interest that have been recently recorded in or near the area.
