Provincial Park (Buffalo Lake)
Located on the south side of Buffalo Lake. Go west of Stettler on Hwy 12 for 12 km, then north on Hwy 835 for 16 km. Park entrance is located next to the village of Rochon Sands.
Large deep lake surrounded by aspen woods with dogwood understory and large beach area.
Hiking trails throughout campground.
Western Grebe, American White Pelican, Double-crested Cormorant, Great Egret, American Bittern, White-faced ibis, Bald Eagle, shorebirds, terns, Purple Martin, Gray Catbird. During migration: warblers.
Campground open May 15 to October 11.

More birds will be seen in the spring and summer seasons, but all locations will have some winter birds. Typical and common species can be expected for each habitat described. Large deep lakes typically attract migrating waterfowl, (ducks, swans, and geese). Notable Species are species of special interest that have been recently recorded in or near the area.
