Cow Lake Recreational Area
383039 Hwy 752. Go 18 km southwest of Rocky Mountain House on Hwy 752. There are two access points – a boat launch area on the north side and a municipal campground on the west side.
Shallow lake surrounded by old-growth boreal forest (including black spruce and tamarack), sedge meadows and willows, with mixed-wood forests in upland areas.
Walking trails can be accessed at the campground.
Common Loon, Red-necked Grebe, Bald Eagle. During migration: warblers.
Boat launch area is not sign posted on the highway.
Bear and cougar country. Campground open May to October

More birds will be seen in the spring and summer seasons, but all locations will have some winter birds. Typical and common species can be expected for each habitat described. Large deep lakes typically attract migrating waterfowl, (ducks, swans, and geese). Notable Species are species of special interest that have been recently recorded in or near the area.
