Park in the River Bend Golf Course parking lot. There are trails south of the golf course and a 4-km perimeter trail that follows a large bend in the Red Deer River.
Waterfowl, Common Loon, American White Pelican, shorebirds, Black-backed Woodpecker, swallows, Boreal Chickadee, Brown Creeper, songbirds.
Large stretches of the river stay open for the winter, making this a good placeto see waterfowl and Bald Eagles.
Cliff Swallows nest under the bridge by Discovery Canyon and Bank Swallows nest closer to the boat launch.

More birds will be seen in the spring and summer seasons, but all locations will have some winter birds. Typical and common species can be expected for each habitat described. Large deep lakes typically attract migrating waterfowl, (ducks, swans, and geese). Notable Species are species of special interest that have been recently recorded in or near the area.
