Open Creek Dam
Location:
55027 Hwy 53. Go west of Rimbey on Hwy 53 for 32 km, then south on RR 5-5A.
Habitat:
Mixed aspen and spruce forest, dammed creek.
Access:
Walking trail along both sides of the reservoir. Most internal roads are not maintained in the winter.
Notable Species:
Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Hermit Thrush. During migration: warblers.
Other Details
Excellent kayak/canoe access.

Note:
More birds will be seen in the spring and summer seasons, but all locations will have some winter birds. Typical and common species can be expected for each habitat described. Large deep lakes typically attract migrating waterfowl, (ducks, swans, and geese). Notable Species are species of special interest that have been recently recorded in or near the area.
